"Precaution! Artists working."
The impulse to create public art goes way back in history. At the site of the main church in Tepoztlán, the last earthquake uncovered a 500 year-old mural . Here is an article documenting it.

Jose Rodriguez shot the photos below. You can find more of his work on YouTube. His channels are here and here. He is a very creative guy, and you can learn more about him in my blog.
Here is a series of images showing artists on ladders putting the finishing touches on their art. This is a dangerous profession!
Notice the cans of spray paint and buckets nearby in some photos.

Here is a wonderful video on Instagram showing the cultural background of Tepoztlán that influences mural design. The video is in Spanish.
I was wondering how murals are financed. Who pays the artists, supplies the paint and other materials and etc? It is a combination of business and government. Here is an application for an upcoming round of funds. I noticed that artists get paid $1,000USD for creating a mural.
The artists on ladders were a part of a recent public demonstration, as promoted in this poster:

The image above was posted in a Facebook group, and had the following translated commentary:
We invite you to the International Urban Art Festival “Land of Gods, Road to Mictlan”, an event that merges urban art, graffiti, painting and Mexican culture in a setting full of energy and tradition. Come and enjoy large-format muralism, created by national and international artists who will transform the walls into portals to Mictlán. Live an experience where gods, colors and creativity meet in the same place.
I've not been able to figure out what is going on inn the next mural. Anyone have an idea? Please let us know in the comments below.

I wrote two prior articles on murals. One features interviews with muralists. And the other was published more recently. New murals are constantly popping up. Some cover the older ones. Very few are deteriorated, like this one:

We've come to the end of our colorful journey showing the most current murals in Tepoztlán. How about making a visit to see the murals?
