This is the story of my experiences living as an ex-pat in Mexico since 2003. It's to culminate in a published book. With your help, I'll be editing, selecting a title, and cover art: a participatory project. Your comments encouraged!

Murals of Tepoztlan

March 24, 2018

Tepoztlan is in the state of Morelos in central Mexico. I've lived here since 2003. Located in the volcanic region, it is a "magic city." The federal government has designated 83 towns and villages as "magic cites" to get federal aide supporting infrastructure for their unique contributions to tourism.

This Letter features murals feeding the eye and soul the colorful nourishment of the Latino culture.

Interview with local mural artist, Judy Wray

Thanks to contributors Judy and Jose

I'd like to make a special acknowledgement to all of the imaginative and talented mural artists whose work is displayed. I'm sorry not to be able to mention them individually, but their signatures are hard to read, and often aliases. Besides, I got the photos from Jose. He didn't tell me their names.

Jose Rodriguez is an excellent local photographer and video artist. His YouTube channel is here.

The local mural artist, Judy Wray, was very kind to let me interview her in her home and studio. She is inspiring to chat with and not just an artist but also organizes and galvanizes community around art. Here is one of her websites, and here another.

The art of Mexico, along with the rest of it's culture, never ceases to amaze me.
